- <p> DIED. TOMMY BOYCE, 55, songwriter; of self-inflicted gunshot
- wounds; in Nashville, Tennessee. With partner Bobby Hart, Boyce
- spent the '60s composing lightweight but catchy pop-rock songs
- like Come a Little Bit Closer for Jay and the Americans, and
- a string of hits for the made-for-TV band the Monkees. Boyce
- and Hart also cut some classics of their own, notably 1967's
- I Wonder What She's Doing Tonight?
